Abstract:
Energy metabolism and circadian rhythm intimately interact with each other. Glucose as a key nutrient best exemplifies such an intimately interlinked process between the circadian clock and energy metabolism: the SCN controls the circadian rhythm of plasma glucose and the availability of which can feedback to regulate the SCN. I will discuss the role of the SCN in glucose metabolism and ways how the SCN neurons may act as glucose sensors to respond to glucose shortage.
