Asian International Conference on Psychology was part of a series of anniversary events at Tohoku University, held over four days. Attendees came from various countries, including TMU from Taiwan, Chulalongkorn University from Thailand, Unpad from Indonesia, and several universities in Japan. The conference featured talks from representatives of different universities and poster presentations.

On September 18th, GIMBC faculty members who presented talks included Dr. Christoph Dahl, who discussed “Mind Across Species,” Dr. Niall Duncan, who presented on “Investigating the GABAergic System in Disorders of Consciousness” and Dr. Tzu-Yu Hsu, who spoke about “Self-Related Neural Circuits and Rumination.”

On September 19th, poster presentations from GIMBC included our PhD student, Vuong Hung Truong, who presented on “Circadian Rhythms and Light Schedules” and another PhD studnet, Risa Dwi Ratnasari, who discussed “Self-Related Processes.”

In Addition, GIMBC was invited to visit Professor Sakai’s lab on the main campus of Tohoku University on September 20th. Both faculty and students participated in demonstrations of functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), olfactory age assessments, heart rate variability (HRV) and other advanced tools used in the lab.

Overall, Asian International Conference on Psychology provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration among researchers and students. The diverse presentations and hands-on demonstrations enriched our understanding of current psychological research and methodologies. We look forward to future opportunities for cooperation and continued exploration in the field of psychology.
