A huge round of applause for our incredible students who showcased their talents and celebrated diversity at the TMU International Cultural Night! The evening was filled with breathtaking performances representing Taiwan, Thailand, the Caribbean Islands, Vietnam, Indonesia, and India, along with amazing magic, juggling, and glowing-light dance acts.
A very special shoutout to our second-year Master’s student, Winnie! Your hard work organizing this event as part of the OGE Squad made it all possible. Your pun-filled intros had everyone laughing all night long!
Team Thailand opened the show with their stunning Ram Chuen Phra Khwan dance, a traditional Thai ceremonial performance honoring the Phra Khwan (one’s spirit). Thank you to our second-year Master’s students, Cha and Cindy, for bringing this beautiful tradition to life!
Team Vietnam touched hearts with their skit about students’ journeys far from home, featuring traditional Vietnamese dance and the melodic đàn tranh—a string instrument similar to the Chinese guzheng. Amazing work to our first-year Master’s student, Ben, and the whole team!
Congratulations to Team Indonesia for stealing the show and winning the Audience Popular Vote! Their performance showcased traditional dances from Sumatera, Java, Papua, and Bali. To close their act, the entire audience stood up to sing “Tanah Airku” (My Homeland), a patriotic song about longing for and cherishing one’s homeland, no matter how far you go. Shoutout to GIMBC PhD student Risa for her incredible work with the performers’ makeup and costumes—your talent made us all feel the spirit and beauty of your culture!
A huge thank you to all the students who performed, organized, and supported this event. Your passion, creativity, and dedication brought cultures from around the world to life. It’s because of your hard work that this night will be remembered forever!
